To illustrate the power of Inception 1, let’s dive into a practical example: predicting insurance premiums using machine learning. We’ve developed a model using a health dataset of 1,300 rows, with key variables such as age, BMI, sex, smoker status, number of children, and annual premium. By leveraging the Gradient Boosting Regressor, a robust machine learning technique, our model can accurately estimate the annual premium a person should pay based on these inputs.

This model is not just a theoretical exercise; it’s been fully integrated into Inception 1. Here’s how it works:

a. Agent Creation: We’ve developed an agent within Inception 1 that activates the model. This agent takes user inputs—age, BMI, sex, smoker status, and number of children—and runs the model to generate an estimated premium.

b. Application Development: The agent is then connected to an application designed to handle these inputs and produce the premium estimate. The application is intuitive, allowing users to interact seamlessly with the model.

c. Workspace Setup: Finally, we’ve created a workspace within Inception 1 where insurance professionals can interact with the model. In this workspace, users can input the required parameters and instantly receive a premium estimate.

Inception 1 was designed with dynamic-use in mind, which is why you can design your own workspace for your different departments. You can think of these workspaces as dashboards that can allow you to visualize data while at the same time being able to perform actions on the data. The following is the outlook of our workspace when we trigger the action for sending data which we want utilized by our AI model.

Lets make a prediction by entering some data on to the platform and see the prediction, please note this is based on the training data used hence the provided premium predictions are hypothetical.

You can see the output of the modal on the column named output and in this case it has a value: 377.2292. This means in this case a person of age 23 and body-mass index (bmi) of 30 who is a male with zero children and doesn’t smoke is supposed to pay say $377.23 premium annually for medical cover. If we change the smoking status from no to yes, the premium should go up since smoking is hazardous to health. Here is the predicted output:

The premium for a person with same data as before but with a smoking habit has increased to $1955.80. This is a reflection of the risk of hospitalization increasing and this sample model has highlighted the risk change.
